Jesus & The Nationals

Some people affectionately refer to the Green Line as the Soul Train. When there is a game, it is the suburban feck tard line as they all line up at L'Enfant Plaza to go South. Compare the two people going North (my side) to the thousands heading towards the stadium.

I guess i shouldn't complain. The crazy fans are better company than I had this morning. Enroute to work, a sweet jolly woman made idle chatter. I thought it was nice and friendly until her true motives came out upon departure. She closed the conversation by saying, 'you seem like a good family man, would you consider this brochure to help your family achieve salvation?' I politely said no and returned to reading last week's Metro Weekly magazine.

Screen Cleaner

AllMyFaves is an interesting website. It is essentially a search page by logo. The main page has pretty much all the standard things that make sense. For a little fun, click over to the "Weekly Faves" tab where the author has some fun stuff. I found myself clicking around...yet another way to help you find the end of the interweb.

Inspiration

I need inspiration to blog, but am exhausted from the weekend. I owe pics and a summary for the following things:

  • Two weekends ago in Cincinnati with Elena.
  • Our newly decorated livingroom.
  • Kevin's Play, Powerhouse (Try These.)
  • My visit from Lisa, Steve, & Keith.
  • Sunday Funday Brunch at our house.
  • My adventures giving a ride to a random stranger from BWI.

Instead...I'm just going to post this inspirational poster and worry about catching up later. Thanks to Grace Kelley for sending this...

Contraband!

I had a really long day after finally getting to my hotel at 1 AM and then getting up 5 hours later to iron and get to the office. I was THRILLED to see my old friend Sandray and equally disappointed Eileen wasn't available.

Meetings ended at around 4 so I drove through downtown and then past my old 'hood. I got to the airport early and was shocked to find I was literally the only person going through security. Nobody else in line until I was completely through and repacked. You can imagine my bigger surprise when opening my side backpack pocket to find this 20 oz water bottle. Safe? I guess they were too busy to notice.

Delayed as usual

I saw my flight was delayed so i took a quick afternoon nap before heading to BWI. When i woke up I found it was again on time so I rushed to the airport. Of course, it was then delayed multiple times - long enough for me to buy and read this whole book. We are finally boarding.

I'll recap the weekend tomorrow!

Burlesque Show

Woo Hoo! We love the Palace of Wonders!

Capital City Brewing Co.

H st waiting time was 2 hours so we headed here for dinner

Touristing

The prez arriving! We got here just in time for the show!

Vegetarians Look Away

A nice little welcome party met Baby Lisa, Steve, & Keith at Solly's when they rolled in around 1 AM. So this is what 1/4 of a bull divided into 8 piles looks like. Each of the 8 participants purchased 1/32 of a cow. Perhaps we should have had the 'sober' people divide it up, but I think we did a pretty good job negotiating the value / size of each package. With the exception of Scott/Matt who settled for the liver (their dogs will eat it) an Rita Jean who HAD to have an English Pot Roast, the piles were put into garbage bags and randomly distributed. Alot of awesome grain/grass fed organic meat for $55 a share! Thanks to Hottbeef.com (suitable for work) for picking it up from the butcher and driving it to the District!

Now it is time for me to go to work - Ugh

Project Runway

I am not sure why Fafarazzi hasn't given me a score for my team and won't let me see other people's scores...it is all zeros. Any suggestions? With these picks, I should have lots of points already. I even got Big Straight T playing Fantasy Project Runway!
.
Week 3 Keith, Kelli, Daniel (I think this will bring in points next week)
Week 2 Blayne, Kelli, Daniel
Week 1: Blayne, Kelli, Daniel

Sordid Lives, The Series: A Success!

If you missed it, don't say I didn't give you enough advance warning! I started blogging about it last fall and reminded you multiple times! Unfortunately, I couldn't watch it live because of my obligation to see Young Kevin's second to final performance of Powerhouse (see summary of that below.) Here's the Sordid Lives series trailer - definitely worth watching, especially if you are one of the few who's never seen the movie. We'll be playing the series premiere via DVR at this Sunday's Brunch!

Side note about Kevin's Play, Powerhouse, from the Capital Fringe Festival: You should go see the last performance on Friday if you haven't already made it. It is...lets say interesting. Perhaps not the best written thing of all time, but Kevin does a superb job in his very prominent role, and looks pretty damn butch in the sex scene with that petite little partner. The whole quirky concept could have been taken much further (the play; not the sex scene,) but I struggled to gain any deeper meaning from it. Perhaps some 70's drugs would have helped? Too bad I'm a good Christian woman. Forgive my bad blogging skills; I forgot my camera and my cell phone...Thankfully, Special took some camera photos for me and I'll add them to the blog when she sends them.

Who's Counting?

I was counting my successful non-smoking days one at a time. Over the weekend, someone asked me how long ago I quit smoking and I couldn't remember the number of days without some calculation. I think this is a really good thing because I must not be focusing on it every day. I do, however, still want a cigarette every day. Hopefully I quit in time for my lungs to return to the look on the left. At the Cincinnati Bodies exhibit on Saturday, they had several depictions of sick and cancerous lungs. I really don't think that would be a good look for my insides; perhaps this is the ultimate form of interior remodeling?

Today marks EIGHT (8) WEEKS without a single cigarette!

On a separate medical note, Tim's Dad is still loopy and not making alot of sense. He remains stable.

Update: Dad

Tim's Dad is out of MICU and has been moved to The Carl H. & Edyth Lindner Heart Failure Treatment Center at Christ Hospital. They have determined he did not, in fact, have another heart attack OR pneumonia. He merely had a large amount of fluid on his lungs for an unknown reason. His blood pressure is extraordinarily low and he will be in for awhile until it comes back up. He is too weak for any additional procedures to help bring it back around. Like the doctor said, "He's come out of this low blood pressure situation before." I just want him to be healthy and comfortable - if you have one, send a shout out to your God on his behalf.

Fortunately, there isn't a much better place he could be for this type of care:

"The Christ Hospital is consistently recognized as one of the best hospitals in the United States and is Greater Cincinnati's top choice for adult health care. For the past 12 years, Christ has been awarded Cincinnati's Most Preferred hospital (NRC). In 2007, it was listed by U.S.News & World Report as one of America's Best Hospitals in five key specialties: Heart and Heart Surgery, Neurology and Neurosurgery, Geriatrics, Orthopedics and Respiratory Disorders."

Wrong Aid

This is a few weeks old, but it looks like there was drama in NYC at the Wrong Aid. While it was later determined to be some sort of a hoax, I have to think something motivated the hoaxter to act. Remember last Fall when the gays were thrown out of the U Street Wrong Aid?

Good Friends

We arrived safely in Cincinnati just in time to head to the Dayton Airport to pick up Elena! We had some snacks and drinks at Margarita Village on the way back with Shannon! Several more fun things are planned for today after we visit Timmy's Dad in the hospital. Yes, another heart attack while in the hospital recovering from pneumonia. The man is amazingly resilient despite his brittle health.

We passed this church on the way to Dayton. It is apparently known as the "Touchdown Jesus." I saw it too late to get a good pic, but if you click on the picture, you'll see other people's photos. I've received some of these before in junk mail from friends, but I've never seen the place in person. It is surreal. Click here to see the church Timmy wanted to visit.

Aint no weatherman...

Here is another shamelessly stolen post from Knee Deep in Mud. Click over and give him some love. This video is totally SFW, but you need a little sound.

PR

PR for Columbia Heights Day in Phoenixville, PA. Tonight's bar crawl being documented at TimmyCam

Fun times in Phoenixville! This is the theatre where the Blob was filmed.

When everything else is foggy and u are looking for your name, go to a place like this and order up some home fries. Makes life better.

I'll be green next time

I really wanted a Smart car or a Honda Fit. I really do care about the environment, but the gays, we do have shallow needs and standards. I found myself a deal at the Mercedes Benz dealership and am bringing Ms. Louise home with me! She is lovely.

Television Bliss

Friends! The next two Wednesdays will bring absolute madness. Fire up the DVRs!

Project Runway: Starts Wednesday, July 16 at 9 PM on Bravo. Don't forget to go to Fafarazzi and set up your fantasy team!

Sordid Lives, The Series: Starts Wednesday, July 23 at 10 PM on Logo. Remember when Jason Dottley, the star, commented on my blog and then did it again? I think we should schedule a viewing party (in the style of movie night.) You have to check out his cute photo shoot for the series.

Muffuletta

If you are missing this movie night....there are two more of these and a pot of gumbo! Happy times with Puff, Candy, and the Chimney Fall gang! The pic looks like a play on perspective, but it really was bigger than her head!

43 (forty three)

Number of days without a cigarette! Will someone tell me when it gets easier? I am back to smoking dreams every night and stomach pains every morning, but I'm afraid to abandon Chantix for physical comfort

Happy Fourth!

Happy Fourth of July! We are getting ready to attend a family reunion that we haven't been to in many many years. I am most excited about seeing my Great Aunt Vania! Here's a snapshot from last night's fireworks.
Mom, Whitney, Keith, and I got great seats in Bicentenial Park. While we weren't in the middle of the action, we were appropriately positioned for a good view and a quick escape. Despite the torrential rains that filled the day, we only felt a few sprinkles on the walk and it stayed dry until we got back to the car after they were finished!
As usual, Columbus outdoes itself every year with a giant festival and amazing fireworks display. I don't have my trusty Mac with me to upload the video to Youtube, but I did capture the finale and may add it later. Here is someone else's video, but it doesn't do the finale justice.

Red, White, & Boom 2008

I didn't have a chance to summarize our literary and historical adventures from yesterday, but today we spent the day taking care of Mom's Dr. appts. and visiting dear friends. We have walked a fair distance from the original Max & Erma's in German Village where we had dinner to Bicentenial Park. The clouds are rolling in as we pray for no rain before Red White & Boom in Columbus! The District has now been away for a week and misses The District.

Here's the baby born on June 10 and named after Whitney!

Outdoor Adventure Day

Despite the rain and high rivers in the Midwest, we decided to go canoeing and Dotster came along! Here are the ladies getting ready to board the ship.

Fun time in the river! We survived!

These pics were originally mobile blogged, but due to the cracked camera lense, I have replaced them with pics from the real camera.

Lisa made a fab spaghetti dinner and then we went to Grandma & Grandpa's house where we played Shanghai Rummy until nearly midnight. Grandpa won and I came in last, but only by 4 points worse than Grandma and 14 points worse than Whitney. We all think Grandpa cheated.

"Pub"licity

We weren't actually at a Pub, but we did catch some Publicity through our appearance at One In Ten's Divas Outdoors Movie Series! I'm on vacation so I didn't see it yet; allegedly a picture of us appeared on Metro Weekly page 23. You can also see the pic online at Knee Deep in Mud or on the Metro Weekly website! The District & Friends have made the printed version twice this year. I'm not certain if that is a good thing, but it at least shows we are doing our part to keep the economy going.

Birthday Month

It is with great relief that I report a successful end to Birthday Month. The last weekend was certainly a wicked one and I am once again in Rural Rehab with my family on the farm. Next year, I don't think I'll even celebrate my own birthday. If I do, I will be far too old to survive another full month of celebration and hopefully my j-o-b will keep me responsible next year. Thank you to all who participated in 2008. You know who you are!
