Thanks to DC Blogs
While this blog normally gets 10-15 hits a day, that changes when I blog about something "noteworthy." Yesterday, DC blogs had a one liner about the garage chandelier and traffic jumped to 76 hits in one day! Thanks DC Blogs! I suppose writing about the excessive decadence of a chandelier for a car in a time of moderation and frugality is interesting. If one routinely shows restraint and responsibility, it is certainly ok to punctuate life with a dose of fabulous!
I wonder how many people scrolled down to see Merritt's birthday dance? Have a great day! Off to work.

Alive and Tweeting!
Since the blog has one reader that might actually care that I am still kicking, I started Twitter updates that can be seen in the upper right corner. I guess, unlike blogging, it is more acceptable to tweet (is that what you call it?) the most mundane things. I also promise to try and find something interesting (drinking events?) to blog about in the near future...maybe even tonight!
As this pic sorta shows, we are entering PA for some fun with the boys. It was MZs 50th on Thursday and we're gonna celebrate!

Sollys Update
**4:30 PM UPDATE** Solly's U Street Tavern will be open tonight! There is no stopping John Solomon!

Solly's Smashed by Taxicab

I was exhausted and decided to stay in last night. At nearly 11 PM, I was nestled in the bed instead of sitting in the window at Solly's Tavern as I might frequently do. This was an excellent choice since at that very time, a taxi driver lost control and REMOVED that window and put the six people behind it in the hospital. I hope it wasn't any of my friends!

You say potato, I say Picasso

Speaking of work, it has been the longest week ever...and cold enough to create snotsickles on the noses. Six weeks from today I'll be warm in S. America. Of course it is fall there and will probably be cold...at least there will be booze and shopping!
Thanks to Gaylistdaily I found this Mr. Picassohead site and created a masterpiece! Check it out and make your own for a good smile this Friday!

Almost Done
visited 32 states (64%)
Create your own visited map of The United States or try another Douwe Osinga project
I think if I hit Hawaii, Oregon, and Colorado I'll be done. The rest of the states don't really appeal to me. Of course, I did receive a personalized invitation to Alaska from Sarah Palin. Try finding that one in your junk mail pile! Have a great Tuesday and thanks to FiestyHistoryGal for showing me these Douwe Osinga projects!

Red Light District Returns
Last May, former Ziegfeld's & Secrets owner, Allen Caroll, obtained the zoning, etc. to re-open the clubs near the old SW location. We haven't heard much about it in the straight or gay media. According to a January 26th Washington Blade article (click for full story):
The clubs are slated to open in a warehouse building at 1824 Half St., S.W., less than half a mile from the O Street, S.E., gay entertainment strip that was demolished to make way for the stadium and where Ziegfeld’s and Secrets operated for more than 20 years. Our closeted Republican politicians and staffers will be pleased to know they can once again hop a few blocks from the Capital to catch a drag show and DL 'lap dance' starting the first or second weekend in February. I'm pleased that it will be located in a historic gay club location and curious if Ms. Blair Michaels will leave her post at Towne or at least make an appearance at the new Ziegfelds? I'm sure the Chimney Fall gang will make a pilgrimage to tell you all about it on the blogs. The trip will be exclusively documentary of course since we're all good Christian women ;-)
The new location on Half Street, S.W., is the former home to Pier 9, one of the city’s first large gay disco clubs that opened in the 1970s. Pier 9 closed in the 1980s and its building was occupied by a series of straight nightclubs before it became vacant last year.

Miniscule Globe!
AFA vs. Sordid Lives
According to a Florida Family release, the show depicts various members of the family as lesbian, homosexual, bi-sexual, and transgender. Among the program's sponsors are Memphis-based St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and Children International. David Caton: "As a matter of fact, St. Jude Children's Hospital was one of the most frequent advertisers on the five programs that we monitored on LOGO, and Children International has been consistent for about the last three months," he contends. Del Shores, the show's writer, left his wife and two daughters to marry his homosexual partner. Communications from Florida Family to LOGO have gone unanswered, so Caton is calling on the general public to send emails to advertisers. My super cute Jason Dottley posted this video response on YouTube denouncing the most vicious accusation that he scandalously stole Del from his former wife and kids when Dell was divorced many moons prior to Jason & Dell's marriage.

New Copper Slippers

I didn't realize Fleet Feet was a National chain, but didn't mind considering it throws some dollar bills at the Fenty family. They suggested multiple pair based on my pronation, my running habits, and the wear pattern on my current shoes; I was able to do an outdoor test run in each pair (the best part.) I settled on these beauties. Yes, they are obnoxiously metallic. Please help find copper and/or silver metallic running shorts to complete my ensemble. T2 & Timmy don't think these are a good idea.
Watch out BloodKillerDeathMan...the heat is on for our 1/2 marathon training! See you in Nashvegas!

Happy Birthday Ms. Andrzejewski

It is Pat Benatar's Birthday today! She my hero.
I toasted in her birthday at some undisclosed location last night to "Love is a Battlefield" blaring from the juke box. My cohorts weren't too amused that I insisted on changing focus from Mexi-friend's birthday to Pat's when the clock struck midnight, but a fan must have his priorities in order!
Happy Birthday Pat! You are only 56, you still rock, you still got it, and you will always be my favorite!

Marathon Training Time

I competed in the Country Music 1/2 Marathon last April. While I legitimately intended to run additional races before the end of 2008, limited time and broken bones kept me from it. I've decided to do it again this year and kick off 2009 with a renewed fitness focus. The intention is to finish much quicker than 08 since there are 17 weeks left to train. Please click here to sign up and join me! A long weekend in Nashville can be loads of fun!
In case you missed it, click here to view the finish line photo and my personalized video from 2008!
