Uh Oh

What happens in Phoenixville stays in...

The butler needs love too

Poor planning

Sux when this moth hides on the door and you forgot to take keys out.
What does it mean? Is my social life blooming into a butterfly or
about to die?

Ballston is getting rough!

Remember that post with the Arlington rap video? It is getting worse!
I took a walk around the mall for some lunch time fresh air and look
what I found in the bike rack. I only wish I had time to hang out and
see who rides this mean machine. Diamond plate (fake) on a scooter?
Who does that? Happy Friday!

The Neighborhood

So Kate Gosselin (John & Kate Plus 8) is moving to Rockville! Twitter was going crazy with these stories yesterday so I had to do a little web browsing this AM. Sounds like her new pad is just a short distance from her bodyguard's office. Coincidence? Do you think she'll be on the new Housewives? DC it aint, but they might not be able to get anyone crazy enough in DC proper???

Speaking of neighborhood...here's a great post from why.i.hate.dc about those bitching that U Street is popular and loud. Love it...

Finally, I don't have time to really research who they are, but through Modern Capital, I found out about the Summer Camp Pool Party hosted by Brightest Young Things. Event details are in the Washington Times story which follows the original story in the Washington Post. I thought I might be too old to go until I saw the Brightest Young Things Website Photos of attendees. Is it too hipster wannabe to make macaroni art at a fake summer camp held at a Mid Century DC hotel?

Competition

Who can do it faster?

Kevin Nadal

My friend Kevin had a book signing at Axis today! Good times!

Boo Hoo

I am sad. Baby Ben is leaving and taking his Mom, Dad, and Uncle Keith back to Ohio. I guess this officially ends my vacation.

Laura look cute with a baby!

I know she's married now and all, but don't be shocked cause Baby Ben isn't the love child! Don't she look cute with a baby though?

Family Fun

Who knew Bernadette would be a family transport vehicle? We had a great brunch in Eastern Market and are now running around like crazy tourists! Can't wait for LW to arrive for happy hour!

Shopping Lesson #1

Uncle Jay teaches me how to shop...at Armani (of course.)

First Metro Ride

Uncle Jay had a little difficulty getting Ben centered in the pic <eg>

Ben's first bar crawl

He cried at the P-Rat but had a scotch at Axis. Check out what he thinks of U Street. I look terribly wrinkled in this pic, but had to post because of his hand gesture.

Wednesday, July 22, 2009

Check out my shirt!

This is my first pic and appearance on Uncle Jay's blog from PA! If I can just keep my shirt clean for the rest of the trip I will surely pick up some hot chicks in DC! Look out ladies of the District!

Ben's First Vacation with Uncle Jason!

We are about 1/4th of the way home to DC! Time for a rest area stop!

My Cedar Point

The coasters are amazing - hard to top the Millennium Force! The girls really wanted to do the water rides and I foolishly obliged. I forgot how bad I hate the hour long coaster lines and the wetness after being soaked. However, I found cheese on a stick at The Frontier Food Company. This, my friends, makes the whole trip worthwhile! Having a great time at Cedar Point!

Mohican River

I probably shouldn't let shirtless pics hit the interweb...might stretch the bandwidth required to load this post. We had a great time at the Mohican River today.

News Flash: Baby Ben and Baby Lisa are coming back to DC with me next Wednesday! Cynthia is scrubbing the trailer to make it baby ready (thank you!)

Happy Saturday!

Twin Pines Apartments

The princess is still packing so I am killing time with a nostalgic
drive. This is the apartment we lived in when she was born.

Funny Bartender T-shirt

BKDM needs on of these

Change?

I swear to god when Bubba brought me here last time it was a white trash old man bar. Tonight I might be one of the only white peoples up in this trailer. And yes, if you asking, that's a Christmas tree behind the stripper! Heyzeus.

Last week's news

I know it opened a few weeks ago, but I'm making the maiden voyage to the new Eastern Market by way of a boozy brunch at Tunnicliff's Tavern!

Who's your Mayor

I am officially the Mayor of Hangoverville today...but nobody holds a candle to Big Tom's Cher...

Remingtons!

So I am smoking again...made it almost three days but don't we look cute? If we just had some petals we'd be poster children for Anne Geddes

RWDC & Smoke

I successfully survived a patio happy hour in the land of Virginia without having a cigarette! Today is day three and I have it by the horns.

Everybody is bitching about the Real World taping in DC. I wanted to write an anti-bitch about it, but this blog, Cheat To Win, does a great job at calling out all the douchebag haters!

Oh yeah...the new orange background. Orange has officially challenged my Purple love and may edge out as my favorite color. If nothing else, I am heavily influenced by it these days. What am I? 12? Favorite color? Really? Let's just say I'm dressing the blog up for Fall in advance.

Have a great Friday!

Past, Present, & Future

Past

Today I am Remembering E-Ball. I miss her terribly. I thought last year on this day that I felt this way because it was the first year. The second anniversary is just as painful and not a solid moment of sleep all night thinking about her. Let's all remember to love each other and show it every day because we don't know what the next day holds. RIP Erica Ball.

Today was also Timmy's Dad's Birthday; it may be a tough memory filled day for him too.

Present

Now that the past is out of the way, I thank Bosox Siobhan and Blood Killer Death Man for supplying perhaps the very happiest memories to balance out this day. They are amazing friends and I love them both very much. Today they will become Mr. & Mrs. and I am thrilled! What a wedding day: Seven Eight Nine!

In my crazy night of sleeplessness, I actually dreamt I was there and the JP was counting ballots because the people of Salem had taken a vote to approve their marriage. She gave up after going through a stack of unanimous yes votes and switched to a verbal vote asking for the Yay's and the Nay's - thankfully there were two of us there to vote and we screamed out, "YAY." The Yays had it and you were married. Odd - I know. Cheers to you both and many more years of happiness!

Future

While I'm certainly wishing the Boston Steamers a happy future, I am taking a very public step with my own. I did it last year for five months and it is time to do it permanently. I became a non-smoker this morning. There, I said it out loud. I quit. While I've tried the pills, the potions, the rationing, and every other method, I think willpower and determination are what allowed me to be successful for five months last year. I have willpower and will use Twitter as my crutch. If you follow me, now might be a good time to turn off mobile alerts as I plan to tweet in lieu of toking the Parliament Lights.

Let the weekend begin!

We made it to the Shenandoah River in record time by busting out at 2. We had less than 2 hours of set up and are enjoying beverages as we speak! The first weekend fire has just been lit.

Let the weekend begin!

Super Seven Incher

Apparently this overseas advertisement is creating some controversy. I just don't understand why? Frankly, it makes me a little hungry and helps me look forward to my planned Sunday dinner at the Front Royal BK!

Waiting for the world to begin

I'm in Alexandria for the 2nd time in as many weeks. This is very
unusual for me, but I can't hate the Fish & Chips at O'Connell's.
Candy, Puff, and I especially enjoyed our friend Tom's show at
Athenaem. We'll have to come back on the 19th for his artist's talk!

My Michael Jackson

This is my Michael Jackson. I know the song means many things to many people and it's interpretation has changed over time for me as well. Without a doubt, it is one of his most powerful songs.

"I'm starting with the man in the mirror
I'm asking him to change his ways
And no message could have been any clearer
If you wanna make the world a better place
Take a look at yourself and then make a change..."

I hope his untimely death was not the result of the pills, powders, and/or potions (RIP Heath & Anna Nicole.) So many selfishly first blame, then become the addiction. It's a shame when it is hard to tell the difference between the person and the abuse and tragedy when we lose them.

Street Scene

I'm priming for the weekend this week, but I didn't expect to see a dude pissing outside the center of the earth.

Coming Home

I haven't posted much because the camera on my phone has a big black splotch that is only getting worse. The new one is a few days out. I came off a busy work trip to a fun weekend with my daughter and family in Ohio. Unfortunately I missed this performance just blocks from home back in the district...next time! Looking forward to my flight home!

My Twin

Happy Birthday to you, the Gay and the Jew! FAB times with good friends!

Feliz Quinceañera

How on earth is my daughter turning 15 today? Someone needs to alert the media because it is a miracle that a 12 year old can have a 15 year old child.

Friday, June 05, 2009

Happy Birthday!

Here's to two of my favorite girls! Happy Birthday Baby Lisa and Becky Lynne! Wish you could both be with me at the p-rat to toast it in! One of you will have to do!

Memorial Day Camping!

We had a fantastic time camping with friends in Bentonville along the river. It was a little disconcerting to stop for a BEAR to cross the street about a mile from our camp. I tried to catch him with my cell phone camera, but he was really fast. If you click the picture above, you can see his ears and ass to the right/behind the tree as he jumped over the fence to get out of Bernadette's way. Fortunately, we all lived and none of the Black or RNG Bears invaded our campsite. Can't wait to go back in two weeks! If anyone is interested in camping, we'll be going all summer. Who'd ever believe I'd become a primitive mountain camper? Hope y'all had a great Memorial Day too!

Insomnia

I am so excited about the long camping weekend that I can't sleep! Looking forward to being off the grid and watching the sun come up without an urban backdrop. It is kind of pretty this AM in the city.

Baby Ben!

This is the sad face I make when Uncle Jay has to lay me down and leave.

DC 2443

I'm all for parking control to keep places for the residents of my neighborhood to park, but this parking patrol car has parked illegally, blocking my condo's dumpster, for 3 days. Not OK.

Sunday Funday!

Prediction: It doesn't end well...Greek Festival, Dick's, Freddies, Cantina Marina, and now we might be up in the Secrets. This is our bartender Sam's belt. LOVE IT. Is tomorrow Monday? Shit.

St. Sophias!

They have wine by the bottle again this year at the Greek Festival! RJ, Cynthia, and I are people watching, boozing, and gonna eat some lamb!

Jason Dottley in MY gayborhood

I missed Jason Dottley in Nashville by a few days, I missed him in Dallas by a few days, and now he is coming to DC to do a show at TOWN and I'm going to miss it by a few days. This is three blocks from my house and I'm gonna be traveling that weekend. One day I'll be able to blog about seeing them both perform live.

If you're in town, go to Del's Show. Jason produces it and you'll get to see him perform his new single as well. I'll hate you and be jealous, but you should go.

Shooting in AM

This is exactly why I didnt want to come to eat in Adams Morgan, but the food be good. Apparently there was ANOTHER shooting and we had to walk thrrough the scene to get home.

Time to eat

Why are we in Adams Morgan? Hungry...

Who are we?

WTF

Hmmmm

Randastasia Cockerhausan's dream man...

Sign of the times in Dallas?

I find it a telling sign that the lending.com building has only 4 cars on the roof level of the parking garage. If this was collections.com or foreclosure.com building, the garage would be overflowing.

What would you sacrifice for your beliefs?

Focus on the family ran this full page ad in today's USA TODAY page 11a promoting their agenda. I will, and have, sacrificed my ability to legally marry to be with the man I love. Hopefully the ignorant religious right will lose their campaign to take away my freedom of choice before they end up losing their own freedom. I respect their beliefs and it is unfortunate that they don't respect mine.

Party in Pittsburgh!

We made it to Pittsburgh in Bernadette! I have to tell you how nice it is to have a table in the vehicle to work and play on the interweb while taking a road trip. Oh yes, and to eat samiches! We are having a fab time catching up with friends at the B A R in the Burgh. Too bad they have to work in the AM. I'll have to ask my family members to have babies on the weekend next time so it better suits my social obligations. By morning time I should have a new name, 'Uncle Jay,' and I will be back in Ohio to celebrate!

Tuesday, May 05, 2009

My Nephew!

We don't have an actual crying baby yet, but we will soon! Here's his heartbeat from today's Dr. visit!

The New Rug (take 2)

Seriously, was this necessary?

Apparently drunkie forgot the attachment on the original post last night...Can you believe we have to step on/over this mess to get into the p-rat?
