Edit: Why we paid $50 for two pedicabs to take the five of us to the Festival is beyond me. Later, when we took a taxi returning to the exact same location, it was lest than $9.00. We do love a nice pedicab! Here are some other shots.

Community Garden Time

She says it is the only thing she wants to do in all of Boston. We are burning drinking time and risking arrest since we had to break in for a closer look.

Edit: Here are some other pics from the parade. You might ask why I'm up so early. I had a dream about the Manhunt Boys (one of them pictured left.) Bad I know, but you dress up a bunch of hot men like savage hunters and it burns an image on your eyeball.






Here's the start of the parade. We didn't walk far enough forward to see all of the Dykes on Bikes, but we did watch the entire parade!




I couldn't help capturing this woman in the building. Had she been a little closer, I could have determined whether or not Tisha was spying on the parade and on us. This chick had the same mannerisms that we observed from a distance.

Finally, besides the Obama Pride Marchers, which I found very personally moving, this was the most socially significant entry in the parade. I don't know his name or the details, but this peaceful activist was carrying a US Flag to show his patriotism and pulling a wagon filled with memorials to and personal items from soldiers KILLED in this war to demonstrate the human lives that have been lost. I wanted to help him push his cart all the way back to Washington, DC.

I am fairly certain this man's giant "flower" arrangement on a stick was a bit disturbing for Mr. Jym, but he had no idea what was yet to come. Birthday Month Day 14

We all three made it to the aeropuerto. While we were determined to stay sober till at least noon, Gail enticed us to the b-a-r with her charm and her new hairdo. Lookout Boston, here we come!

Catching Up

I chose to avoid blogging and pay attention to having an unencumbered good time on Day 11. For those who couldn't understand Sister Disco's live blog, let me recount the birthday events. Birthday Month Day 10

Birthday Week Day 3

I've received notification from Vergie that she has faithfully pushed through my three days of rehab and is ready to hand the baton back to me. I came back to DC yesterday morning, but spent the afternoon working, napping, and cleaning. I needed the third day of rest.

Today, however, I have just arrived home from work and the gym. Timmy is slaving away in the kitchen to prepare two of my favorite things for my "birthday dinner" since tomorrow is movie night and the actual birthday celebration will be a regularly scheduled event and not Districtcentric. We are having Skyline Chili Dogs and grilled vegetables. Yummy Delish. Considering I already have heartburn from another favorite, The Farmer's Market Veggie Quesadilla, from Chevy's for lunch with bastardized onion heavy pico de gallo due to the tomato salmonella outbreak, this may not be a great way to start a Tuesday Booseday, but I'm gonna give it my best shot.

You probably think birthday month, birthday week, or even birthday celebrations for a man of a certain age are inappropriate. I want to send a shout out to some of my June Birthday Peeps. This list is just from my calendar and I'm sure it is incomplete:

Early Party

Birthday month - Day 8 was completed in Ohio with good friends and family! We had a super fun birthday party for Whitney at Grandma & Grandpa's house. Her actual 14th birthday is on Tuesday, but I'll be slaving away in the District so we celebrated early.

Someone (below) was extremely excited when she unwrapped her present last night and found a Coach box. Shopping adventures at Macy's last week were successful. Thanks to VB/SD for helping me pick a winning gift. Of course, with a 14 year old girl, it is hard to go wrong with a pink Coach purse and a bottle of fancy perfumes!

Time for bed as I have to travel back early tomorrow and work...ugh. Looking forward birthday week.

Rollin' Rural - Birthday Month Day 7

Even God rested on the 7th day. Thank goodness for a visit to the farm as birthday month was about to kill me.

Here is a pic of Smelia and Mimmick who kept us entertained for a bit before shopping with Mom and Whitney. I forgot how limited the shopping is in Mansfield...we should have rolled to Columbus.

If i survive the heated political debates with my parents, it will officially be a fantastic weekend getaway. They might also need an education in A/C. Mom thinks that the weather is great and the breeze is sufficient. I say 90 degrees and humidity like a Sumo Wrestlers crotch warrants A/C...she thinks it costs too much, but isn't worried about the environment or the economy???? Thankfully we're staying with little Brother and baby Lisa in the mansion!

100 Friends

I am very excited to see that with my latest friend, Austin, I now have 100 Facebook Peeps. If you aren't my friend on Facebook yet, friend me. If you don't have a Facebook account, sign up. It is stupid, yes, but a fun way to keep in touch. Judge not. Everyone is doing it, even my aunts and uncles. Thankfully there are very robust privacy settings so they are categorized to see only my most basic info. They'd ask too many questions if they saw everything and probably die if they read the blog.

I worked from home today and went to Logan Circle for lunch. The disbelief on my face when I walked past her bedroom window and saw this solicitation!

Wow - definitely worth the watch after B. Scott's commentary as she shows part two of her "interview" with ex-soap star and British born model, Marcus Patrick. He's delicious, but it isn't x rated.

Movies, Food & Friends

We finished playing Revolutionary War Tourist and spent much of the afternoon relaxing at the house. We might have gone through the sangria, but I'm awake again at 6 AM so it must not have been very potent. Perhaps I was just enjoying a new form of moderation.

While Merritt was cooking the buffalo blue chicken burgers for dinner, I moved the people and the dogs out to photograph the picture perfect deck as the sun set. The setting was worthy of Architectural Digest; Urban Townhome Living!

In the evening we rearranged Merritt's family room which is being transformed into a fab contemporary lounge. After configuring the 50 inch flat screen with the diva home theater sound system, Dreamgirls provided the entertainment! It's a great movie and even better with Merritt there to explain all of the references from the 60s. Despite my rejected attempts to paint a funky 70's style silhouette of Merritt on his own lounge wall, we definitely helped start the room transformation (should have given him more gin.)

Sunday Funday: Phoenixville, PA

After touring a good part of Valley Forge, taking in the historic sites and the wildlife, we have settled onto the deck for boxed sangria and peas & carrots (hapi snacks hot wasabi peas & kraft Macaroni & Cheese Crackers.) We couldn't resist 5 liters of sangria for $12.45, but we did have to doctor it up.
